Unknown Speaker  1:13

Hey, time to shine today

Unknown Speaker  1:15

podcast squad. I am on the wine right now with one of my really good friends who legitimately legitimately lives the laptop lifestyle. He’s down in the wonderful country of Brazil. His name is Sandy Bouvier Ingram. And I’ve known Sandy from back in our periscope days when we used to do lives with Periscope. And if you’re talking about wanting to build content with visual video content, strategies, he is your guy. Sandy is the founder of social architects, a company that focused on helping entrepreneurs to grow their personal brands through video and content content strategy. It’s helped over 2000 entrepreneurs worldwide while that’s strong overcome their fears of creating video content to attract a higher quality clientele. And the numbers with Sandy speak for themselves the quality with Sandy speaks for themselves. He is a true rock star. So Sandy please come on Introduce yourself the time to shine squad but first, tell us your favorite color and why

Unknown Speaker  2:23

my favorite color is green because it is the color of life.

Unknown Speaker  2:30

Growth right? Exactly, exactly. I love it. I love that. It’s been a long time coming my friend to get you on this. Like we kind of bounced back and forth and you know,

Unknown Speaker  2:41

three years.

Unknown Speaker  2:43

Actually, I’m not trying to overplay you, but we met with periscope in and a 14 You know? So it’s like sick going on six years, man.

Unknown Speaker  2:54

But I’ve been traveling nice, you know? Yeah.

Unknown Speaker  2:57

Every time I’m checking you out, you’re on. You’re in Hawaii. You’re like yeah, we all want to level up like we say here to Sandy’s on to Sandy Sabo. Sandy give us the the origin of social architects and by the way squad, it’s social net architect sorry about that the social architect architect is spelled AR ch i ti ck, but that’ll all be in the show notes.

Unknown Speaker  3:24

Yeah. So for the most part, my background is architecture. And I spent a lot of years in the DC area as well as the LA area doing commercial, real commercial architecture. It was something I grew up in a planned community in the suburbs of DC called Eric called Reston. And where a lot of my neighbors three of them were architects. And so I was inspired by their their creativity, if you will. So as you know, most most most architects start with that being, you know, I love for art, but then not turns into seeing how architecture is really kind of an engineering art degree. So I spent a lot of years again living in DC and working in DC in Los Angeles, worked for and helped design the Wild Animal Kingdom park in Florida with Disney Imagineering. And I started having kids. And as you may or may not know, as an architect, you can pretty much spend your life on various projects, and it’s sleeping under your desk, some days to meet your deadlines. So I said, You know, I didn’t want to spend my time missing my children growing up. So I kind of transitioned into what’s called cap m applications, which is Computer Aided facilities management software for the most part, but still kept me involved with architecture, the building envelope, relational database kind of stuff. Yeah, I’m kind of that nerdy

Unknown Speaker  4:59

guy. But he looks like it could be on the cover of GQ people just letting you know that movies, a movie.

Unknown Speaker  5:06

Yeah. So from there I, I was involved with companies like Scranton, American Honda counties like San Diego and Sacramento counties open to bring their facilities online. So fast forward. I was generating leads for another organ, something I had started kind of thick to kind of have some something was a tax write off my arm of a business.

Unknown Speaker  5:39

Side home demo.

Unknown Speaker  5:41

Exactly had a side hustle, which was a little thing I was doing called. You may have heard of it prepaid legal.

Unknown Speaker  5:48

Oh, yeah, absolutely.

Unknown Speaker  5:49

Yeah. So I was doing that for a lot of years. And people were asking me how was like generating leads and of course it was a lot easier back then around 911 to generate leads. online. So it kind of was a good fit for me because it allowed me to to still be that creative self that I am, I consider myself a creative in so many different ways. So the 911 happened in the industry I was in was overhead, this is pretty much a minimum of a million dollars for the software for invitation and purchase. And that was overhead expense. So I just kind of flowed into doing social media and digital marketing full time. Around 911. So yeah, that’s kind of that how I got merged the two into stillness, that architecture social net, social medias, social architect means I like to look at things as typical architect, I look at things like 30,000 foot foot. Right,

Unknown Speaker  6:50

right. Yeah. See what I layer, right?

Unknown Speaker  6:52

Yeah, I lay it all out for you know, and I help people to as you know, I’m going to stick with their term I help them to level up because a lot of people go to To see their full potential, you know, and is, as you know, I always think globally, a lot of people think locally. And so you’re limiting yourself, you know, why don’t we take this out a little bit driving note that, you know, here, you can create these digital assets as I call them in some of them online. And no, and now, you’re not so dependent on your local area. Gotcha. Gotcha. So,

Unknown Speaker  7:23

okay, so you were an architect with pencil to paper and protractors and all that stuff, right? You’re

Unknown Speaker  7:31

dating me?

Unknown Speaker  7:34

That’s okay. We’re both my friends. But real quick, what was the aha moment because you were a lack of better term bad ass person that can generate leads for companies. What was that? Okay, I’m drawing from a 30,000 foot view, homes and buildings and whatnot. What was the aha moment that was like, I’m going to generate leads and be a social architect online to You kind of answered it. But I want to dig a little deeper into that. Like, what was the aha moment?

Unknown Speaker  8:06

Aha moment was that I was working from home. And then because of me creating content I was getting I wasn’t even out there hustling anymore. I was people were coming to me. And not so much from word of mouth. Of course, that’s always you want people to talk you nuts. But people were coming to me because of the content I was creating. You know, and just, and this is how I do things it just like, you know, when I met on Periscope, me just sharing on, you know, myself and that’s what people get confused, is that, you know, you need to share yourself, you know, people get to know like, you’ve heard it know, like, and trust. Trust is absolutely when you’re doing this being yourself, that’s when people get to trust you. So, really, the aha moment came when we were on Periscope, because before I was doing, I was reaching out to people inside of LinkedIn. You know how people do this and you know, go Back and forth with them. I was reaching with two people on Skype. And the aha moment really was during that time, I city, someone said, Man, I feel like I’ve known you forever. You know, and I’ve only had like a 30 minute conversation with, right. But it was on video, right? And then periscope came out. And the whole world just kind of opened up to

Unknown Speaker  9:21

me. I used to watch your scopes all the time. And because they’re actually stuff that I could use, and whatnot. So with the traveling and whatnot, what is your family kind of grasp on to like, what’s your family’s thoughts about what you do with all the tribes? Do they love it? Or, like if I’m intruding too much, I’ve always wanted to ask you that I want my squad to hear from a

Unknown Speaker  9:45

person my immediate family or Yeah,

Unknown Speaker  9:46

that travels with you. You know, I mean, like your legitimate laptop lifestyle. There’s people that are listening out of my 10s of thousands of subscribers. I get asked that all the time, how can I not have to go into a Office, like, what’s the secret to keeping a family life and in actually launching something like that, and I don’t want you to go too far deep and share all the secret sauce but what what’s your thoughts with that?

Unknown Speaker  10:11

Well, let me say that.

Unknown Speaker  10:16

I have you would know it but I have children that have you know, that are you know in their 20s. Wow. I played played basketball and have master’s degrees and so they were but before I made it to my last was at nine I only had two boys. I wait to my last was done with high school and it was in college before I started traveling. Oh, nice. Yeah, yeah. So I you know, I pump the brakes for probably a good I would say, three years short, really. And then I took baby steps. I started out in Mexico for the summer. And I know coming from Southern California wasn’t too far but it was right over the border. You know, stayed in the nice little beach area there. And if you know me, I’m always close to the beach. You are never except for London. The year I spent one in London was miserable. It’s always you know, it’s a nice place to visit but the weather’s miserable there. But the point is, is that you’re just you know, I’m even seeing now like lots of different travel organizations on on, on Facebook. expats is what most of us are called. Yeah. And people are living that that travel lifestyle with their families. They’re just making the adjustments. There are people with small children, you know, they learn up front, you know, what kind of insurance to have, what kind of schools with how can you buy a house and start a business church, you know, you kind of some of us just jumped in I was I was able to because I didn’t have the small kids. I just kind of just, you know, let me just go to Mexico and from there I jumped it to Iceland and into the UK. All those different areas now that’s just

Unknown Speaker  12:01

you’re filling yourself with just a bunch of culture and that, you know, that’s, that’s fantastic. So, Sandy if I am standing around and pressing flash at a networking event or someone comes to me through LinkedIn or whatnot, what are the words that I’m looking to hear? If to send somebody a good prospect? Contact connection? What’s the word? What’s the trigger words I’m looking to, to listen for

Unknown Speaker  12:29

someone for

Unknown Speaker  12:30

say, a new business out there to level up their online content, video marketing and whatnot. What? What am I listening for? Does you know me? I love to.

Unknown Speaker  12:38

So yeah, appreciate that. You’re listening for them to say something like, I’m, I don’t get social media. It does. Social media doesn’t work. I don’t I put, you know, I’m on all the different platforms and I get zero, you know, leads from it. That people just don’t most people just don’t get How social media works. Okay. And that’s where I would think that, you know, and that’s frustration. That’s not saying, you know, I don’t want to do social media. That’s saying I’m trying, but it’s not working. I suck at

Unknown Speaker  13:13

somebody just like,

Unknown Speaker  13:15

yeah, yeah, they’re not saying I need someone but they’re just it doesn’t work. You know, like, like,

Unknown Speaker  13:21

the curve though, right? Sandy, if they were to talk to you, they would be like, okay, it was because time and money, you know, interchangeable.

Unknown Speaker  13:30

Absolutely. Time is money. Yeah. You know, that’s what that’s actually my slogan. Something I got kind of borrowed from Gary Vee when he was talking one time about Uber. Right. I haven’t had a job is licensed. My wife was just laughing. I haven’t had a driver’s license since I think 2000 2005 because I was trying to get around to LA and LA traffic is a mess. Yeah, it’s a mess. And it was making Yes, I was getting frustrated. And I was like, you know, I was It takes me at least an hour, hour and a half to get the place. Right. I’m always driving and I get there frustrated and said I can get an Uber and sit in the back. And before I know it, I’m there.

Unknown Speaker  14:10

Right? Right.

Unknown Speaker  14:12

So So that’s my slogan now and this is came from Gary Vee talking about Garrett, about Uber is ready can buy back time, you have to figure out these little ways to buy back time. And that’s what content creation especially with video that you distributed, you know right now 50 different ways helps you to do you create one video and you love it. build a team that can distributed stuff around up to different platforms for you.

Unknown Speaker  14:40

Love and tools. So Sandy let’s let’s take a stroll down memory lane and maybe let’s happen a DeLorean and go back in time and you mean do it one year old Sandy movie Ingram. What are you telling him?

Unknown Speaker  14:58

What kind of knowledge nuggets are you dropping on him.

Unknown Speaker  15:04

I would say, and this is coming from me looking at I always scribe everything. I mean, I didn’t I think you retain more not anything we know. retain more when you write stuff down, right and looking back on my notes, I stayed the course, like my business works because I stay on. I’m always surprised I look back and say I’m still saying the same thing.

Unknown Speaker  15:26

I’m still

Unknown Speaker  15:29

Yeah. And this you know, you like we say if you love something, do it your own. I’m clearly you know, sometimes I look back at my notes and say, you know, am I What am I? what it was like? Well, my mindset a year ago, like three years ago, I’m like, wow, I’m still on the same page. Same language same, so just be consistent. We hear that all the time. No one here is no one is genius out here. Yeah, I want to smarter than you. What are they doing? They’re just That’s awesome. Because focus stay consistent. Exactly. We hear it, right hear it. But then we see that shiny object go by well like squirrel. Yeah.

Unknown Speaker  16:09

Right. Let’s check on that. So stay with what’s working on you something that we talked about here in times trying today. Like we always want to progress and level up. But we can’t step outside of what works for you to do that. Like, you can’t just and I’ve been guilty of it, trust me. I’ve seen it and said, oh, wow, that’s different. You know, luckily, I’ve had a coach that said, well, bro, come back here, forget and we’ll get that. We’ll get that done. So with you being doing the traveling, but now what’s the big thing that you want to accomplish in your life?

Unknown Speaker  16:44

It’s a tall order. But this is what I learned when I was in London for a year with my global small business mentors. And they basically are saying that you need to think bigger than I want to make money. But for what, for what purpose? Okay, so the exercise that we did in the City of London, which is actually a small city itself, right, right. They said, take that number that she thought that you want for you, that’s a selfish number, and then exponentially grow that number by 100. Because then you can help people. So the thing that everything that we’re doing, you can have a cause, and that’s what I teach my people is that people, people want to buy from you because you stand for something. Okay, so yeah, caution, don’t compete on price. You turn your prices gotta be here, right? And even off the chart, because you’re giving to a global cost. Sure, sort. Right, even just local,

Unknown Speaker  17:49

right? It’s like the law of value in a sense, right? Like we’re, your true worth is kind of determined by how much you give than what you get, you know what I’m saying? So like, when we Here’s your like a true go giver, which is fantastic. So it’s inherited from my mother All right, we’re gonna step outside of that kind of little get a little crazy here but we’re gonna take away your cell phone your laptop. Okay, Mister laptop lifestyle. What are three things Sandy cannot live without?

Unknown Speaker  18:18

I’m gonna start first with my health. Okay.

Unknown Speaker  18:21

Yeah, we got a pretty good so yeah, I hear you.

Unknown Speaker  18:24

It’s foundational to me. I’m sure you could all start obviously to people. I tell people if Steve Jobs scab on Monday he gave this entire fortune.

Unknown Speaker  18:34

Absolutely. because he’d figure out another way.

Unknown Speaker  18:37

Yeah, one more day this one day. I would say also my prayer meditation time in the morning. Okay, I need my peace in the morning I I wake up typically my my phone and my watch. My Garmin watch goes off at five and I kind of two and a half hours of in and out of consciousness if you will, but I don’t turn on my phone. ones off. Be honest with you here recently I’ve been turning it off. But for you it’s just yeah, it’s been you know, I spend time in the morning reflecting instead of just first thing getting on my devices just centering myself for you. Yeah, and I think the third one I clearly is and where I think we’re all at that place where we have to appreciate

Unknown Speaker  19:23

true friendships and family.

Unknown Speaker  19:25

Yeah. community especially now with with with this by the way we got the squad we’re, I’m talking to Sandy and and on April 6 of 2020. And every everything is in the middle of the corner of Coronavirus. So, oh seven sorry, April 7, you’re 100% right. So say What is your definition of a life well lived.

Unknown Speaker  19:51

A life well lived. Bible says you shall know them by their fruit. And I think that’s your children. I think that might be Children Oh, you know, the well rounded, well adjusted don’t do drugs, you know, very giving people and I think what people look at them they they see that they were well raised. So that’s awesome that’s that’s everything my kids their their happiness their health

Unknown Speaker  20:20

so by you raised them that way you made yourself pretty much immortal because they’re gonna pay it forward to somebody else and then then forward for their mean it’s gonna come back to Sandy That’s fantastic. That’s beautiful. I we’re gonna move in. What’s up brother?

Unknown Speaker  20:34

Like I say my you know,

Unknown Speaker  20:36

we always want better Yes, for our children than my first hope most of us do.

Unknown Speaker  20:42

Love that. So we’re gonna move into our lightning levelup lightning round. All right, you and I could talk 15 to 20 minutes in each one but my producer would kill me. So what we need to do is I need a five second seven second answer like it’s gonna pop off whatever comes to the top of your head. All right, okay. There we go see?

Unknown Speaker  21:02

Unknown Speaker  21:06

Unknown Speaker  21:51

It’s called

Unknown Speaker  21:54

disrupt you,

Unknown Speaker  21:55

disrupt you. Okay, I’m going to put that in the show notes when I look it up and put a stamp

Unknown Speaker  22:08

Unknown Speaker  22:17

I like to focus on a company called chair something. And I just discovered them on on Twitter. And they are an organization that basically rescue kids from slavery, especially human trafficking. Of all care. They called our rescue

Unknown Speaker  22:40

there, they’re winded I kind of plugging advocating love it.

Unknown Speaker  22:48

I’ll put that on the show notes as well. But what this last question What is the best decade of music 60s 70s 80s or 90s

Unknown Speaker  22:57

Unknown Speaker  23:19

got this from watching a movie from one of my favorite actors it hurts my heart didn’t say it now because he was just a phenomenal actor. But Robin Williams in the Dead Poets Society said Carpe Diem, first time I was ever exposed to that. That is a slogan I live for. Seize the day, everyone so just so you know. Think about the past think about the future and when you have a present which is a gift.

Unknown Speaker  23:50

So Carpe Diem carpeting

Unknown Speaker  23:54

that that’s awesome. That’s a great actually have it on a site like right above my right above my desk. But cool. How can we find you?

Unknown Speaker  24:05
