Coach Fergie: [00:00:00] Nobody clapped. You still earned that win. Squad, you ever share good news with people and wish you hadn’t? You’re excited, they barely look up, Somebody changes the subject, and suddenly you’re questioning an accomplishment you were proud of just five minutes ago.
Recently, I was in a session with a coaching client, we’ll call him James. Family man, financial advisor, huge win at work. Months of preparation, follow through, earning trust, he finally gets the result, but his friends barely acknowledge it. His family moves on. Now Jim feels, we’ll say, less than. And here’s what I’d ask him: “Buddy, did their response change what you accomplished?” <<READ MORE>>

Sit with that, because wanting your people to celebrate you is human. But handing them the authority to decide whether your win matters, That’s where we’ve got work to do. Now I got three moves for this. First, own what happened. Name the win, name the effort, name what it means.
Don’t immediately bury it under the next goal. Give yourself a minute to recognize the person you had to become to get there. Second, get curious before you get resentful. [00:01:00] Silence doesn’t automatically mean jealousy. Maybe they’re distracted, maybe they’re carrying something, maybe they don’t understand what this took.
Tell them, “This was a huge deal for me. A big deal for me. I’d really love to celebrate with you.” That’s an invitation, squad. Give your people a chance to show up. And if they share a concern, listen. You can be proud of your accomplishment and still hear somebody you love. Third, mark the moment. Dinner, a walk with someone who gets it, something meaningful.
And if somebody repeatedly belittles your progress, be thoughtful about who gets that first phone call next time. You don’t have to turn them into the enemy to stop seeking their approval. So here’s the knowledge nugget.
Let people add to your joy without giving them the power to decide whether you’ve earned it. Squad, that win you have been downplaying, name it today. Celebrate it. You can stay humble and still be proud. Your win still counts when the room goes quiet. And squad, I have a lot of clients that this happens with, and some of our coaching sessions are dedicated just to that.
Not to feed their ego, but to let them know that they [00:02:00] are not less than, that they are worth it, so they can continually progress and level up. And if you’re going through a struggle like that or a challenge, please reach out to me directly for a complimentary Hour of Power, where we can kinda shine the light on the blind spot and see where we can help you progress and move forward.
