Welcome to time to shine today podcast episode 23. Using silence to recharge. This is Scott Ferguson.

Let’s level up.

Hey, time shine squad. Welcome back. Scott Ferguson here. love my squad, my Fergie fanatics that are out there. And thank you so much for all of the feedback that you’ve been giving me. It’s just been fantastic. And also thanks to the people that reached out to be interviewed on time to shine today. That’s actually humbling to me. I haven’t really reached out to too many people, but I’ve had people reach out to me now which is just fantastic. So again, I really appreciate you appreciate all the support. We’re going to get into a little bit of a topic here that is super critical to you leveling up your life, and that topic would be silence. Like me, I am a pretty driven guy. And I know a lot of listeners out there are very driven people always leveling up their life. And I’m finding that when you are that kind of person, really alpha really driven

that you run into burnout really quick. The older you get, I feel that the quicker it comes just for physiological reasons, but you know, I try to keep my mind sharp, my temple or my body sharp and always progress and always moving forward and trying to serve as many people as I can. But then I’ll hit a wall. I just sit there in I don’t feel like doing anything. I don’t. I’d rather watch TV and just chill. Rather than getting out there and serving people or improving my life proving my temple. My coach Sam. No, this is probably three years ago when I I didn’t have a nervous breakdown, but I had a time where I was things. It was super high and I had no idea What was going on? And you know, Sam, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t call Sam a coach. He’s more of a mentor. And I don’t pay him. He’s just somebody that kind of took me under his wing. real hard charger himself, very, very driven person. That never took any excuse. He always made me push to find my own answers.

I could come to him with issues, but he’ll ask me for my recommendations first, even if they weren’t the right ones. He would still make me think and dig deep, but I had hit that burnout. And Sam just said, You know what, take a take a little break, take a sabbatical. Take a step back. And I was like thinking man, I if I take a step back now, I’m going to make a double the time just to wrap to work double the time just to get back to where I was in this position in SAM from his experiences like man, my best ideas, my Creativity happens. When I take a step back in the silence. He passed on to me that, you know, he’s God believes in God, so do I. And he just believes that the silence, when you take time to step into silence, your Creator will start communicating with you. They’ll start giving you ideas start giving you more creativity. When you let the distractions go, even if it’s just for two to three minutes a day, that can that can definitely work for you, myself. I take silence breaks, at least once or twice a day, once with a no 15 minute by Nero nap where I really reset and charge every day probably around 233 o’clock, right for that wall really hits but other times I’ll sit in a meditative state and I’m not the type to really sit Indian style or whatnot, but I can sit in my chair, close my eyes, do some pranayama breathe exercises that I was taught by my Yogi to really connect with my inner being to block out any distractions blocked out any interruptions

and really connect with myself knowing that in the end now I’ve been finding out that I’m when I’m done I actually feel more revitalized my mind, body and spirit, you know, because the distractions that are out there are going to slow your mission from leveling up just a bit. And I found that the easiest way to get around those is really to get silence just for a little bit. I did a podcast a little bit ago about a sabbatical, the sabbatical is taking a little bit more time off, where just sitting in silence, and asking your Creator and having discussion with your Creator, your your problems, maybe something that’s bothering you, or maybe even Just sit, sit in silence and just let it go. Not even worry about what’s present

in your life. That might be turmoil that might be having just a really hard time with. But silence can really help that. Myself, I love my breathing exercises sitting in a meditative state, and just really communicating with my Creator. If you want some great tips on breathing exercises, like from Wim Hof, or Charles Childress look in the recommended resources down below in the show notes, and there’s some free free information down there. It’s just fantastic. There’s also a couple books that I would recommend like meditation for fidgety skeptics. That’s a, that’s an awesome book as well, especially if you’re just having a day where you can’t shut it off. But you know that shutting it off will help you come back 10 times better and help you 10 extra life, then get that book as well. It’s fantastic. So you know Thoreau says It is not enough to be busy, sort of the ants. The question is what are you busy about? See, you can be busy, but you’re not being productive. And you’ll grind, grind, grind, and you’ll see you’re not getting anywhere and I’m going to tell your squad, I have had that problem.

I have it every day where things just overwhelm me. But I know that if I can step into silence, it’s going to help me restart, reboot, refocus. So that’s what I really want you to focus on today is knowing that we are hitting that wall and you’re hitting that time where you’re just, you know, running out of creativity. You’re just having no drive. You’re just feeling tired even though you’ve got good sleep. Step back into silence. Reset, reboot, refocus, okay, and reach out to our Facebook group time to shine today. Let us know some exercises of silence that you use. I had a great one.
