What happens when you finally get everything you worked for…and it still doesn’t feel like enough? In this Knowledge Nugget, Coach Fergie shares a powerful coaching conversation with a successful financial analyst who discovered that achievement and alignment are not the same thing. Learn how to recognize when you’re chasing success instead of fulfillment, audit the ladder you’re climbing, and realign your goals with the person you are today.

“You can be grateful for everything you’ve accomplished and still admit you want something different. That’s not failure, that’s awareness.” ⚡
– Coach Fergie

3 Actionable Take-Aways

  1. Ask what you expected the goal to give you. Was it freedom, respect, security, or finally feeling like you were enough? Understanding what you expected to feel can reveal what you’re really chasing. 🎯
  2. Audit your ladder. Ask yourself: If I keep winning at this exact game for five more years, do I actually want the life that comes with winning it? Success means very little if your ladder is leaning against the wrong wall. 🪜
  3. Stop automatically chasing the next thing. You don’t have to blow up your life—you may simply need to realign what you’re building with who you are now. Sometimes leveling up means choosing direction over speed. 🧭

Coach Fergie: [00:00:00] What if getting everything you wanted is exactly why you’re miserable? Welcome back to another three-minute Knowledge Nugget. I’m Coach Fergie with Time to Shine Today Coaching. Let me ask you something. Have you ever worked your tail off for something, finally got it, and thought, “I thought this would feel different”?
I had a conversation this week with a successful financial analyst that I’m blessed to coach. The guy is winning, great career, great money, respected in his field. He’s accomplished things that a few years ago he would have considered proof that he made it. But something was off. He wasn’t excited about what was next. <READ MORE>>

He wasn’t enjoying what he had. He was just empty. So I asked him, “If nobody knew your title, your income, or what you’ve accomplished, would you still want the life you’re building?” And man, that question landed. ‘Cause here’s your Knowledge Nugget. Achievement and alignment are not the same.

You can absolutely win at something that no longer matters to you. And high achievers are especially dangerous here because when success doesn’t make us happy, what do we usually do? We chase more success, more money, bigger title, bigger house, another [00:01:00] zero, another finish line. But if achievement wasn’t the missing piece, why would more achievement fix it?

So here’s three things I challenged him with, and I’ll challenge you with them today. Number one, ask what you expected the goal to give you. Was

it freedom? Respect? Was it security? Did you think you’d finally feel like you were enough? Get honest about what you expected to feel when you arrived. Number two, audit your ladder. Ask yourself, if I keep winning at this exact game for five more years, do I actually want the life that comes with winning it?” That question might sting. Good. Pay attention to the answer. And number three, stop automatically chasing the next thing. You don’t need to quit your job tomorrow, blow up your life, or move to an island.

Maybe you simply need to realign what you’re building with who you are now. So listen, you can be grateful for everything you’ve accomplished and still admit you want something different. That’s not failure, that’s awareness. Because sometimes leveling up doesn’t mean climbing faster.

Sometimes leveling up means having the courage to make sure your ladder is [00:02:00] leaning against the right wall. Something to think about.

So if you’re maybe might be dealing with that ladder that’s maybe leaned up against the wrong wall or, just feel kinda lost, miserable, if you will, give me a call directly, 248-739-6362. Again, 248-739-6362.

248-739-6362 and we can schedule an hour of power. You can also go to timetoshinetoday.com/hop. Again, timetoshinetoday.com/H-O-P for hour of power. And we can maybe shine a light on that blind spot that’s maybe holding you back, keeping you miserable or find that right l- wall to lean that ladder against.

So until next week, let’s stay uncommon, lean into service, help others, smile, and get after it. I absolutely love your guts
