Time to shine today Episode 007. A ship is always say for sure. But that is not what it’s built for by Albert Einstein. episodes about getting off your arse and start progressing. The Scott Ferguson. Let’s level up.
Hey, time to shine squat at Scott Ferguson it is the beginning of January 2020. And hope everybody is off to a fired up New Year new decade be closed out the last decade strong and today we’re going to talk about a little bit more about getting over the fear. What I found is a lot of my students and people that I coach are afraid of the unknown. And that’s what kind of this quote that I saw Of course on social media, from Albert Einstein the ship is always say for sure, but that is not What it’s built for and that’s so true. I’m a Navy guy. So I remember my days in the Navy and I was actually onboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk and we went around the horn that’s around Cape Horn that’s around South America. And it was pretty scary. You’re talking about 3040 foot waves I remember looking off the fantail or the very back of the ship and just see our ship just cutting through the waves and seeing it on either side almost felt like Moses was part in the Red Sea. Absolutely amazing sight. I go back and think what our commanding officer bear pick advance and legend in the Navy. Fantastic pilot. Fantastic man. Wonder what his thoughts were. Did he activate his faith, knowing that that ship was gonna be able to cut through the waters? Or did he activate his fear? Well, obviously we went. So he did not activate a sphere. He activated his faith. He was afraid of the unknown because he actually came over the one MC or the microphone on the ship and said, You know, this is going to be a rough ride fellas. Let’s, let’s go. We’re going to press on, that was our credo on our ship was pressing on. So I’m here to say that if you’re stuck in your fear, know that if you’re a, if you keep your ship ashore, you’re going to be fine. You’re going to stick in your comfort zone. It’s like sticking your head in the sand. But guess what, when you actually put your head out of the sand, you’re not going to be any better. You’re not going to see any progress. You’re not going to feel the, the excruciating pain of going through it, but also the euphoric feeling of succeeding.
I did suffer from this before where I would say, well, I’ll do it tomorrow. I’ll get it started. I’ll get it started. And I never did. And then I look back and say, Man, that time passed. And where would I be? I mean, even with this podcast, people were telling me start your podcast, have a radio show in South Florida and they’re saying, start your podcast. People love to listen to you. That would be like, yes, yes, yes. But my ship just stayed ashore. Finally from my woman’s pushing from my colleagues pushing Fergie get your butt out there activate your faith and do the podcast and now we’re you know seven episodes in and I’m so glad that I did but I also wish that I did it earlier. A lot of what I would say is my problem with not doing it earlier was my fear fear of the technology fear of the cost of it. What I found out is by doing the research, I do this podcast for absolutely free zero dollars and you know in the show notes I’ll put how you can actually do that as well. But I digress, we’ll get back to how we can unmoore your ship, take it the sea face the rough waters, especially if you’re going to sail to paradise. I live in paradise. I did that I had to go through the fears five years ago when I lived in Detroit, Michigan where it’s cold, cold as balls I’d say here it’s beautiful in Palm Beach Gardens Florida at 70 degrees and beautiful here on January 5. Third of 2020, I had to nut up and put together a plan to come down here and succeed, because it’s not very easy to succeed down here. Everybody wants to come down here. So I was a moderately successful real estate agent in Detroit. And I’ve back to the moderate Lee successful Some say maybe a little bit more than moderate, successful agent here in South Florida. One thing that I read that really turned me on to getting to the level of being able to not up and make this move course I was reading Jim Rome, because I was thinking everything’s hard. Everything’s too difficult. There’s so many things that have got to go in motion and planning didn’t turn out perfect to make this happen. Jim Rohn is a fantastic author, speaker. He actually was Tony Robbins, not only his friend, but his mentor. He’s the one Tony learn from and you can see it if you listen to any of Jim Rowan’s, I’d say pick up the power of ambition, the digital download an audible, or also his book seven strategies for wealth and happiness. Both of them are fantastic. I’ll put them in the show notes, but pick those up. They’re invaluable. But he says don’t wish it was easier. Wish you were better. don’t wish for less problems wish for more skills. don’t wish for less challenge. wish for more wisdom. That’s great, Jim, that’s we can wish all we want. But how do you plan that? How do you move forward? I say I go back to a couple podcasts ago and I say this every day no matter what when I’m getting into a new venture or I’m taking my venture that I’m currently in to the next level and I say activate your faith and not your fear. I believe in God, whoever your Creator is go to that person thing, whatever it is and ask for guidance. Ask for them to make you help you make the right decisions. Okay, so number one, activate your faith and not your fear. And remember again another quote that I got from rod Harrison from envision you is inch by inch, it’s a cinch by the yard, it’s hard. So whatever you’re going to get, and when you unmoored your ship, and you start going to see, you’re not going to cover 300 400 miles in a day, you’re going to go maybe 50 miles, 60 miles, you’re going to test the waters, see what works, see what doesn’t. Okay? So inch by inches of cinch, just take things step by step to do that you have to plan and prepare accordingly. So again, it goes back to the little things that you do, you wake up, whatever time you wake up, I’m a 5am guy, but wake up with the morning routine and make sure that you wake up being grateful attitude of gratitude, thank your Creator for what you have right now. That is great in your life. And that will start off a chain effect of the rest of your day of you’re going to achieve so much more. So I get up early. And I do that for the discipline of it because I know I’m going to get a ton done by 9am when the rest of the business world starts Working and I’m able to I’m doing this podcast right now at 530 in the morning and I love it because I know when I’m done with it and I upload it I’ve actually helped and touch people. So again, prepare and paint plan accordingly. Get It begins with your morning routine. Make sure that your morning routine as you get some moving, get the blood flowing, get hydrated, you lose so much hydration during your sleep, then feed your mind. read something that is going to invigorate you something that’s going to serve you internally. internalize it. I love Robin Sharma. I love Bob Burg. I love Randy gage. I love Jim Rohn I love les miles. I love all those people that will give you practical steps just like I’m giving you here. Okay, and then lastly, surround yourself with the right people, the people you surround yourself is key for you to unmoored your ship and take it to see because you’re going to run into obstacles out there that you’re not familiar with. Make sure you have that mentor, a coach, or somebody that is going to put you back on track to motivate you, an accountability partner, if you will. Kind of like a workout partner at the gym, a business partner, partner at the office, get everybody on board. Let them know what you’re doing. Okay, so again, let’s activate our faith and not our fear. Let’s take our ship to see let’s can continuously always level up. Thanks so much for listening.
