Time to shine today, Episode 005 the bridge between reality and a dream is work. Let’s level up.
Hey everybody, it’s Scott Ferguson with time to shine today.com and it is the last day of 2019 I can’t believe it’s flown by fantastic got so much done this year. Lots of hurdles lots of challenges. But I’ll tell you what, I wouldn’t give it up for the wild turned back a couple different things maybe my mom’s passing and but other than that, I really did have a fantastic year. Got a lot got rid of a lot of poison in my life and added a lot of sugar if you will, fantastic support system. I know this is kind of a funny. start here with the bridge between reality and a dream is work that actually came from The actor Jared Leto, or lecto I don’t know exactly how to say his name, but he just kind of came across as a quote that I read. I thought it’s just fantastic. And said the bridge between reality and dream is a work in it. I started looking back to his life and his struggles as becoming an actor and what he had to go through and how he became one of my favorite DC comic villains, the Joker, jack nicholson is still my guy because I’m a little bit old school, but Jared Leto is fantastic as a joker. He really brought it in his relationship with Harley Quinn on the big screen. It was pretty awesome. Okay, I digress. But this quote really hit home with me. Because a lot of people suffer from not putting in the work. They’ll have a big idea. They get started. They’re excited. Hint towards the New Year 2020. A lot of people make these What are they called resolutions and resolutions can be poisonous. In a sense, if you’re they’re made on January 1, you know Gary Vee Gary Vaynerchuk says, if you’re going to have resolution on January 1, don’t make them if you ever resolution December 23, that’s great. live out your resolution. So what I’ve been caught in this paradigm as well, I have had issues and times in my life where I start something, but I don’t follow through with it. And I look back, I guess, maybe in a little bit of regret, but I learned from those instances and I’ve really apply the stuff that I’m about ready to put out to you right now. bridging that gap between reality to make it to a dream. So and that is the work. There’s another quote that I also have to bring up is by Herm Edwards, you know, the, the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles at the time said we played a win the game, but his other quote that he said he tells people that are just coming into the league. NFL is that you know, a dream without a plan as a wish. So there’s that work than planning that has got to be done. And I’ll tell you this, I started with my daily routine. I went over it and prior podcast, maybe Episode Two, about how I wake up, I get moving. I get out in the sunlight. Luckily I live in South Florida, so it’s sunny pretty much every day. I get hydrated with my little hydration drink in and I get rolling. But that whole time, I’m feeding my body. I’m sorry, I’m feeding my mind. stuff that is going to help me out throughout the day. And the way I do that is with like motivational videos on YouTube. I don’t live in go rah rah motivational lifestyle all the time, people will see me and they see the energy and they think I’m motivated all the time. But I wake up sometimes not so motivated, but feeding your mind is the same thing as doing a workout in the gym. You’re going to go into gym, you’re going to get it done. You have to do the same thing with your mind because if you Don’t you’ll go stale, and you will just not put in the work. And that’s something that we really have to do every single day is get your mindset set up to get the work done. So what you’re feeding your mind with what you’re reading with what you’re watching is very important. I mentioned this a little bit earlier. It’s super easy to get started. Everybody has the idea. Everybody has the dream. Everybody wants to just be great, which is fine. I want you to be great. I want to be great myself. I strive for that every single day, but it’s the keeping going part that consistency that we all myself included, will fail at and certain days, it’s you going to put the work in to get past that inconsistency and get back on track. It’s okay to fail, fail forward. I’m okay with that. But just keep working. That was always my weakness in the past of being a great starter and not being able to finish What I’ve really found a great way to get finished on any project, or anything that you’re passionate about, is to get the right people around you. That is huge. And my support system obviously is my lady Susan, I mentioned her in pretty much every podcast, but also the right co workers. If you’re working with somebody, surround yourself with the right co workers so that you can feed off of each other, right workout partners, get into business with somebody that you can feed off of each other. That’s huge. And that will keep the work going to bridge that gap between your reality in your dream so it’s huge. Please surround yourself with the right people. A great book recommendation I can get give you is by Mel Robbins. She’s phenomenal. She wrote the book, The five second rule, and it’s phenomenal. I have to read I’ll leave it in the show notes. I’ll leave it as a recommendation on my website. I’ve read it a couple times. And again, the name of the book is The five second rule, which will, it’s the five second rule, transform your life working confidence with everyday courage. All of those work life, confidence, courage, they all are done through work. There’s no shortcuts. But she gives you practical steps in there that I’m actually paying forward right now to you to make sure that you’re on track every single day and her thing is Get the f up, get going. And I even have on my computer screen, it just says 54321 That’s it. I mean, I always going, there’s no stop. There’s no time for thinking too much. I’m always taking action and it’s okay. If I fail. I just don’t go crazy and just do whatever I want. But I fail a lot in business. And that’s just fine with me. I fail a lot in life. But as long as you’re doing the work, and moving forward and living in an attitude of gratitude, that’s what is going to create Push you through to level up. Okay. And last one, I have a little quote from an old mentor of mine, old coach, Rod Harrison, and he has a company called envision you, I would recommend you checking them out as well. But he holy says at his seminars, inch by inch, it’s a cinch by the yard, it’s hard. So while you’re doing this work, go in and do things. Not trying to bite off way too much for that day. Okay? Do not try to
take care of the whole business when you know that when you write it down, and if you do it right, it should take a good three months, six months a year to get it done. So again, please don’t try to do everything in one day. inch by inch. It’s a cinch by the yard. It’s hard but by saying that you’re still putting the work in. Okay. So again, let’s get level up. That’s Fire up. Let’s continue to do the work every single day so we can bridge that gap between reality and what your dream is. All right. Thank you so much for listening.
